Salford Lads Club
Along with club volunteer and artist Leslie Holmes, I devised the Smiths room at Salford Lads Club as a permanent exhibition space, designated for fans of the Manchester band the Smiths.
This is a place to house photographs and ephemera, celebrating the band whose 1985 album 'The Queen is Dead' featured the facade of the youth club on its front cover. The space has evolved since 2004, housing various exhibitions celebrating the Smiths and also the unique Grade 2 listed Edwardian building in which it is housed.
After 20 years working with Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) projects, the club has a newly restored concert hall, exhibition space and is even an occasional wedding venue.
